Why should my child read eBooks rather than traditional books?

We are not trying to be a substitute for tangible books or bed time reading. Our mission is simple: We just want kids to read more, and have fun at it! Some children prefer to read online and to have the help, support and interactivity of an eBook.  It makes reading fun.  When parents or carers are busy then kids can still have a story they love read to them or read it themselves and click on any unknown words to hear them spoken without waiting for an adult to help. So if kids are reading and having fun - everyone wins.

It is a fact of life that children are spending more time using computers for education and recreation. We want to bridge the gap.  We want to leverage their love of computers to get them to love reading! Why not make screen time an educational experince that kids will love?

Why eBooks not tree books?

We are not trying to be a substitute. Far from it! We want to give parents and teachers a choice in how they can use the ever emerging trend of IT to support their child’s learning.  We see eBooks and tree books as complementary. There is a time and a place for both and if it means children are reading MORE then that is a good thing.  And it doesn’t hurt that eBooks are more environmentally friendly. 

 

Why do you charge for your eBooks?

We are just like a normal bookstore - except virtual and we cater just to kids!  We specialise in the production of eBooks for children in the age bracket 3 to 8.  We follow the same process as traditional publishing houses in our choice of authors.  We invest in our editorial process and our illustrations.  We invest considerable time and effort in producing highly interactive eBooks that look and feel like a traditional book but have lots of added benefits like comprehension quizzes, puzzles and games.  There are a lot of free resources on the internet, however we challenge you to find the same level of quality and professionalism that you will find goes into our books.

How do I know that the book will be suitable?

You can preview a few pages of each eBook before you decide to purchase.  Or go and explore the free ebooks we have on the site so that you can see what they do. If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason then let us know why and we will refund your money. 

Can I only view the book online?

No, you can also download them to your Personal PC if you want.

Can I always get access to my e books?

Yes.  Once you have downloaded a book to your computer you will always have access to it - no expiry date.  You will not be able to save the book to multiple devices nor be able to forward it.  It is a breach of copyright laws to reproduce any book in whole or in part - see our terms and conditions for full details. 

Do you sell hard copies of the books in your bookstore?

No we don't sell any paper books.  We are an electronic book publishers not a traditional publisher using existing hard copy books to turn into electronic copies.

Are ebooks really more environmentally friendly?

We believe they are.  A report by the US book Industry Study Group reported that to produce the average book it releases more than 4kg of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere - that's the same as flying 20 miles.  Then there is the cost of transportation during distribution and warehousing as well as the waste and toxic chemicals from the paper mills.  Our books are designed to be read on a computer so no special, and expensive, devices to buy - or indeed throw away when a replacement product is produced.

Our ebooks have children's book reviews by other customers. When you have read a story why not let your child write their own children's book review and send it to us. Our range of ebooks for children is for pre-school age children to about age 8 depending on reading level. There are a number of resources for preschool children including learning the alphabet, counting and learning to tell the time. There are preschool online games too. For children who are more capable readers you will find ebooks that are more complex. So whether your child is learning to read or is a more capable reader you will find something here for them.
